Lock Status — Privacy Policy

Lock Status has no servers and no accounts, and we do not collect your personal data. Your Mac's lock status syncs only through your own private iCloud, which we cannot access. We don't track you, we don't run analytics, and we don't show ads.

What the app is

Lock Status is an iPhone app that shows whether your Mac (or Macs) is currently locked, unlocked, or asleep. It is the companion to a free Mac menu-bar helper app (also called “Lock Status”). The Mac helper reports your Mac's lock status; the iPhone app and its Home/Lock Screen widgets display it.

What data exists, and where it lives

To do its job, the app works with a small amount of data:

• Device names (the name your Mac reports, e.g. “Edvinas's MacBook Pro”)
• Lock-state history — a log of locked/unlocked/asleep transitions and their timestamps
• Your Pro subscription status (whether Pro features are unlocked)

All of this is stored locally on your device and synced through your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database). It stays inside your personal Apple account. We have no servers and no way to read, collect, or receive this data. Its handling is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy.

No account, no tracking

• No sign-up or login. The app has no account system.
• No analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not collect usage analytics, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
• No advertising and no advertising identifier (IDFA).

Subscriptions and purchases

Pro features (Home/Lock Screen widgets, usage insights, full history, and alerts) are an auto-renewable subscription with a free trial.

• Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your name, email, or payment details.
• We use RevenueCat to manage and validate subscriptions. To determine whether your subscription is active, RevenueCat processes purchase-related information such as product identifiers, purchase and renewal status, and a random, app-generated identifier that is not tied to your real-world identity. RevenueCat's handling of that information is described in its own privacy policy, linked above.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives in your own iCloud and on your device, you are in control of it:

• Lock-state history is automatically pruned (kept for at most 365 days).
• Deleting the app removes its local data from that device.
• Removing the app's data from iCloud (via Settings → your Apple Account → iCloud) removes the synced copy.

Children

Lock Status is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change and the updated policy will be posted at this URL.
